When Referrals Support Clients Most

You may think of referring a client for supportive care when you’re noticing:

  • A therapy client begins wondering whether medication might help, and you’d like them to have a thoughtful place to explore that option.
  • A client’s symptoms feel persistent or complex, and a psychiatric evaluation could add clarity around options to help them move forward.
  • A client is inquiring about therapy, and your practice doesn’t currently offer that service, but you’d like to help them find somewhere they can feel supported.
  • A client is navigating a significant life transition, such as burnout, grief, relationship changes, or major stress, and you want them to have mental health support.

Our goal is simply to meet each client where they’re at and be another steady place they can rely on as they’re getting to where they want to be.

Our Approach to Collaborative Care

We understand how important the relationships you’ve already built are, and want to make sure you feel our respect for that from the very first conversation. Many therapists will come to MMBH to collaborate on the medication piece of a client’s care, as a way to build on the therapy experience they focus on.

Sometimes, we’re focusing on therapy to support a physician or provider’s work that needs a referral when it comes to more in-depth mental health exploration. In other cases, we may support clients in both therapy and medication management, but we always leave room for you to share your intention with us and find the best way to help more people, together.

Here are a few ways we like to collaborate, while remaining open to what works best for you and for the client:

  • Having initial conversations about care and goals with any referring partner
  • Meeting with clients to help us all build clarity that aligns to their needs
  • Determine each client’s preference around sharing updates throughout the process
  • Keeping referring partners informed as we go and as things shift
  • Supporting smooth transitions if a client’s needs evolve

Specialty Areas of Care for Your Clients

Clients often arrive with a mix of experiences that don’t always fit neatly into a single category, and we want to normalize that for them and for you. These specialties can help you get a sense of where our team has experience and passion.

We work with several major insurance plans that your clients may rely on for mental health care, which vary by the team member they’re seeing here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Referring a client is an important decision, and it’s natural to want a clear sense of how the process works. Here are a few questions we often hear from providers who are considering partnering with us.

Once your referral is submitted, our team will reach out to your client within 1–2 business days and help them answer any questions they may have, then get connected with the care they’re looking for.

Our goal during that first conversation is simply to make the process feel supportive and clear by offering information, helping them schedule with the right provider, and making sure they feel comfortable taking the next step.

Clients are always welcome to contact our practice directly or schedule on their own. A referral is one option to begin working with our team collaboratively, but never required to get started.

If you’d prefer to introduce a client to our team through a referral, you’re also welcome to use the form on this page. We aim to keep the process simple and supportive for both you and the client.

We truly value collaboration with referring providers. With a client’s consent, we’re happy to coordinate care and share updates that support continuity and alignment. Our intention is always to respect the relationships already in place while helping ensure the client’s care feels thoughtful and connected.

This is a part of working together that can bring even more value to the client, and something we are always open to doing when they’ve expressed permission.

If a client’s needs fall outside the services we provide, we’ll do our best to help them identify other appropriate resources or providers who may be a better fit. This is something we can also provide to you if that might be helpful.

Our priority is always helping the client find the care that best supports them, even if that means guiding them somewhere else.

Rates vary depending on whether a client uses insurance or chooses to self-pay.

For clients using insurance, out-of-pocket costs are determined by the client’s individual insurance plan, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance. Mindful Mental and Behavioral Health PLLC bills in-network insurance plans when applicable. Clients are responsible for verifying their coverage, confirming that their provider is in network with their specific plan, and understanding their benefits. Clients are ultimately responsible for any costs determined by their insurance company.

For clients who prefer not to use insurance, self-pay rates vary depending on the type of service and the length of the appointment. Our office can provide current self-pay rates upon request.
